It appears that some users of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase have experienced a concerning issue where their account balances showed as zeroed-out, according to reports on social media. Coinbase acknowledged the problem on its status page and reassured customers that their funds are secure while they investigate the issue. CEO Brian Armstrong attributed the problem to a surge in traffic, likely due to the recent fluctuations in Bitcoin’s price.
This incident echoes a similar one from August 2023, where Coinbase users faced similar issues attributed to technical problems.
It’s crucial for users to stay updated through official communications from Coinbase regarding the resolution of this issue and to take appropriate measures to safeguard their accounts and investments.
“We are dealing with a LARGE surge of traffic—apologies for any issues you encounter,” Armstrong tweeted. “The team is working to remediate.”
This isn’t the first time that Coinbase has encountered this type of issue. In August 2023, some customers reported the same problem, which Coinbase similarly said was due to a technical hitch.
